    Loss of My Grammy

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7 On July 24, 2014 I lost not only my grandma but the woman who inspired me to be a better person each and every day!  Being the second child, my parents needed to return to work relatively soon after I was born.  With this news, my Grammy made the decision to retire from her long career as a Registered Nurse and stay home to take care of me.  We did absolutely everything together.  When it was time for me to start preschool, my Grammy found a half day (only three days a…

    The Forbidden Fruit

The story of the forbidden fruit is a story that is as old as time, but it is a story that our children and students must familiarize themselves with.  The two most important themes in the story are original sin and temptation.  You might be thinking, how in the world can I teach younger children about sin and temptation when they have not experienced much in their life so far?  The answer is to do this by bringing those themes into other parts of their religion that they have already learned.  In the Catholic faith for example, children learn about Baptism at a very early stage.  When children are first…

    The Journey Begins

As I begin this journey towards leading a more faith-filled life, I reflect on Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.Come and share your master’s happiness!”  Many do not realize that our eternal role in the Kingdom of God is not the same as each other.  Our eternal role is determined by our faithfulness on the Earth today and in our everyday lives.  As Ephesians 2 points out, we are saved by grace and grace alone but it is in our faithfulness that God determines our eternal reward!
