“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples”-Saint (Mother) Teresa
Growing up, I was raised in a Catholic family. We went to church every Sunday, my sister and I went to private Catholic schools, and we said our prayers every night before we went to bed. Does that sound familiar to you? A lot of people start out this way but then as life begins to get in the way these devotions slowly fade in the background. There is nothing I can relate to more than having to miss church because of a sports team practice or some other type of extra curricular activity, however, just because we cannot make it to a psychical “church” that does not mean we cannot make it to “Church!” See the little “c” is used when describing the actual building, but the big “C” is used to describe the community. We can find ourselves in community with God without going to a set place.
My father did not have a Catholic background, he comes from a family of Evangelicals which is where my love for the written word of God comes from. Catholics are notorious for reading doctrine, if anything, more than the written word so I definitely get this from my father’s side. I wholeheartedly believe that there is a Bible story, passage, or person for every single situation life throws at us. We can find all types of motivation and solace through the written word. When we are in a tough situation, we can turn to God’s word to help us find our way back on the righteous path!
We can find God all around us in our everyday lives! My goal is to let people know that they can lead a faith based life without going to extremes. So often in today’s society people are trapped into believing they have two choices: be extremely religious and conservative OR believe in nothing, this is not the case. We can all bring faith into our everyday lives. Maybe you feel closest to God praying the Rosary weekly and attending daily devotions, maybe you like to Bible Journal, or maybe you find God in music. I want to help you explore your connection to our Lord and Savior through a faith based lifestyle. Our faith is a journey not a destination!
